Mine's a Timex with huge numbers on it - just so that I could see the time while I was resisting the need to get varifocal glasses

Now I have caved in and got the new glasses, I could maybe get something a little more stylish...

Probably the most valuable thing I ever owned, and it got stolen a few years ago. Belonged to my Great Great Grandfather. Picture is a lookalike.

'The watch was bought from Kemp Bros of Union St Bristol.
It is 17 jewel with 4 adjustments, Swiss made and in a "Moon" case (a trade-mark
of A.L.D. Dennison Watch Case Co Ltd). The case has a double cover, the inner
being inscribed "English make guaranteed to be made of two plates of 10 ct Gold
with plate of composition between and to wear 20 years". The case rim
is numbered. Weight 99 grms.
The watch is working and in extremely fine condition. It has a fast tick-rate
for high accuracy (approx 4 per second).
There is also a separate 15ct gold chain, weight 11.5 grms, known as a "Dress
Albert" valued at 338 for insurance in 1995.'

dennison made mostly cases... for many companies
vver the years, Dennisons made cases for Dreyfus, Newmark, Omega, Smiths, Rotary, Avia, Vertex, Rolex, Rone, Rotherham, Thormens, Perrin, Benson, Dimier, Hirst, British Watchcase Co. Ltd., March & Lobin, Huber, Zenith, Gibson, Longines, Marvin, Cortebert, Marc Fauvre, Baume, Marchand & Tobin, Medana and Roamer.

damn you for losing that ... lol

What a shame it got stolen.

This was my Great Uncle's watch, that he then passed on to my father. From the marks I believe it to be from between 1910 and 1920, swiss, but imported, sent for assay and sold under the Arthur George Rendell name by Robert Pringle and Sons in the Clerkenwell Road. It's had quite a life, as you can see from the condition of the face, but it runs superbly well still. My father took it to war with him so it has been all over North Africa and Italy.

It's hardly a vintage...and the battery died so it's just sitting on my desk as I use the phone for time keeping these days and the strap is looking a bit tattered....but it's a lovely watch. Mine has a lighter, more cream coloured watch face though.

I've got one of their first too...and some Citizen knocking around somewhere and my brother Seiko, but I left that with my mother.

Meself, I can't wear a watch - summat to do with my magnetic personality, I think. Over the years I've had clockwork, digitals, and nothing works. Don't most people get the time from their cellphones these days? Then again, I don't even have one of those.
