Well I thought I'd get a thread started that's purely on the very first car you bought.was it a banger? Did it give you problem? Or was it cheap and reliable or make be you had deep pockets and bought something fancy.
Share your memories.....so what your first car did you love it?

A brown Austin Mini. Heater failed at the height of winter. Fond memories of driving with the window down and having to pull over regularly to scrape the inside of the windscreen
. It was pretty slow, the brakes were almost non existent, but that car was beyond fun. I will probably never own another car that comes close to the fun factor of that mini!!!

Nissan Lupo.. and I was 40 something! Yes I grew quite fond of her until I went to trade it in and found that because I'd foolishly bought it on HP I still owed tons!
Made my feelings very clear to the dealer and paid cash for the next car, which they weren't too chuffed about. She was called Martha and was no trouble whatsoever.

Brakes were almost non existent that sounded like a death trap

A dark red Morris Ital estate. It was cheap, reliable, .... and was totalled 48 days after I bought it when some idiot kid swerved his mother's Renault 5 across the road and ploughed into my Ital where it was parked. It moved about ten feet along, and sideways up an 8" vertical stone kerb.
It was also badly bent, ..... but the Renault 5 was destroyed, most of everything in front of the windscreen was scattered all over the road!
I didn't own it long enough to love it, and I'm not sure I ever would have, it was just enough to get me about.
I have the same pattern of letters and numbers on my current commuter car, a Honda Accord, so whereas cars here have registrations in the pattern "ABC-1234" mine is "ABC 123D".

Mine was a brand new, 2002 Vauxhall Corsa. Base trim, can't remember what it was but it had a 1.0L engine and it did the job nicely. Got it when I was 23, I had only passed my test the previous year so I was well chuffed.
It won't win any car of the year awards but I had it up over 100 plenty of times and it was fun to drive if you gave it the beans. It did tend to rev up in the low 5,000s above 90 in 5th gear though

A baby blue Vauxhall Nova called Norman, I can still tell you the number plate (I couldn't tell you the plate of the car that is currently sat on my drive.) It was old and rusty, and my then boyfriend bought me it when I was 17.
I had a stereo system put in it, that was worth more than the car. Ran around in it for around 2 years, and it never let me down, apart from when I ran out of fuel, which was around once a month
