Which is what the Interpol chappie was complaining about, as reported a couple of days ago.....but still doesn't actually change the figures he recorded........but at least it gave a tabloid-esque chance to drag out the scared hair smilie

Since Lockerbie, it should always happen. Any country that follows ICAO guidelines, will reconcile bags to passengers before the flight departs.

And still no news, no nothing. Nothing to suggest that the Malaysians even know where they should be looking.

After this long, the fate of AF447 was established and wreckage was turning up, and that plane went down hundreds of miles offshore. MH370 has apparently disappeared in some of the busiest shipping lanes in the world and relatively close to the coast. In fact the current theory is that it turned back and crossed inhabited land, but nobody saw anything, and it left no observable trace.

Bizarre...According to BBC, Malaysian Air Force now claiming that they never said they had tracked the aircraft backtracking to the west, so it seems no one knows where that came from and why the search has been extended to the N Andaman sea...and Vietnam are suspending search operations pending "information" from Malaysia...

Going by Sky News, it took a weak to find the wreckage of an Adam Air flight that crashed in 2007 and 2 years to find the main fuselage of the Air France, so I guess it's not that strange it's yet to be found.

Like I said "... Nothing to suggest that the Malaysians even know where they should be looking. ... " Which, pardon my French, is effing absurd! .... At least with AF447 they knew where to look. At the moment, I'm afraid that if any trace of it is found, it will only be by random dumb luck.

The latest BBC report just half an hour ago, includes the following section, confirming my suspicion:

.... After more than four days of fruitless searching, there is an element of desperation creeping into this operation, ....
Ya think?

Weren't there about 6 observers on the East Coast of peninsula Malaysia who reckoned they saw a plane low flying? Also bear in mind this was the middle of the night....most residents would be tucked up in bed.

I read (not sure if true) that it was the Singapore military radar that gave the heads up about checking on t'other side of Malaysia.

But...as you say Pulaski....nobody seems to know for sure where to look  or aren't saying

Indeed. Clearly the Vietnamese have run out of patience with the "thrash around in the dark and hope" approach.....

I have to say, I'm surprised at the lack of comment on satellite use. I mean we're always being told that "they" can monitor what's been written in invisible ink on a grain of rice in a darkened cupboard under the stairs, but they can't find any trace of a missing airliner I did see one comment yesterday that the Chinese were refocusing a series of satellites, but nothing from the US. Or are they just being security conscious silent?

Given that it is now being reported that the plane had been confirmed as passing on to Vietnamese air traffic control, it's interesting that Vietnam are stepping back from the search till they get more info. Shouldn't they be one of the parties providing the info..?

ETA...not pointing a finger at anything nefarious from VN, just curious as to how this works....
