I've seen bags offloaded many times. Have to wonder how it happens so much.

Anyway, latest is that the suspected door was not a door. The suspected oil slick turns out to be bunker fuel (that's fuel for ships), and a fisherman off Kota baru in the north of peninsula Malaysia reported seeing a low flying plane at about the right suspected time. More mystery .

"Low flying" meaning .....  Is it possible it was literally flying under the radar? Could it have been hijacked?

Yes I wondered that, Pulaski, though I am no expert on these things.

There's another thread going on the Canada forum and someone with a pilot spouse (I think) put a great link in to a pilots forum....oh boy, some eye opening stuff there.

There is the insinuation that the Malaysian authorities are holding back some info. This is speculative obviously. But y'know they are now looking at west coast of Malaysian peninsula, that's over my way, and someone stated that's one and a half hours flying time from the spot where they lost contact.

Another thing that one of the pilots said was that 5 no shows is very unusual. I didn't know that. Mmmm did anyone check the offloaded bags at Kuala Lumpur ? Did anyone collect the bags? Lots of questions eh.

There's a very interesting thread on the PPrune forums (pilot rumor forums), seems there are a lot of unanswered questions.

Hopefully they manage to piece the series of events together soon and get the relatives some closure.

Now it may well be that the 40% not run represent a higher risk group, but even so, it's still going to be a long way short of the "every flight is going to have a few" position.

..... Traveling with stolen documents is a fairly common phenomenon that is rarely detected. According to data collected by the Wall Street Journal, passengers boarded flights without having their passports checked against Interpols database of stolen documents 1 billion times last year. Meanwhile, 40 million passports are reported missing. .....
FYI 1bn = 2.74million instances/ day, 365 days a year!

i read the stolen passports going to Copenhagen and Frankfurt were used by two guys who were trying to illegally enter those countries for immigration purposes. One of them was being met by his mom in Germany. They person the both stayed with prior to getting on the flight had told the police all their details. so if that's right it sounds like it was not connected to the flight disappearance - and was just two friends buying hooky passports at the same time from the local villain. they just chose an unlucky flight to make their attempt on.

Not sure what you're trying to say...all that report says is that authorities aren't checking the database, so people are boarding without their passports being checked against the database... not that stolen passports were used that number of times...

Tonight I am just reporting the facts. It is too late at night for me to try to draw any conclusions, other than to say that there appears to be an awful lot of opportunities to for stolen passports to be used without detection.
