ETA...not pointing a finger at anything nefarious from VN, just curious as to how this works....
Are there any places in Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia remote enough for a crash to go unnoticed?

I would have thought "yes" to any of those, though I'd have thought less likely to go undetected if it came down on land than sea....especially with satellite imaging. Saw a headline in a paper at breakfast that someone is putting satellite imaging online and asking for "crowd source" help to analyze it

Perhaps a Kickstarter project could be used to fund the search efforts?

Even worse than a kickstarter has to be getting in a witch doctor with a couple of coconuts. After the ceremony he is quoted as saying "I feel the plane is still in the air, or has crashed into the sea."

So, in short, he has about as much idea as Malaysian officials.

If that approach has any chance of working, my money is on the coconuts finding the plane, not the numskull holding them.

Somewhere in the world, there was a plane nerd tracking that aircraft on flight aware. He will know exactly where that plane is. All they need to do is find him

I know mate, I was jesting . Although if that last post in the plane spotting thread turns out to be accurate, then maybe a plane spotter will save the day.

Just seen a ticker go across a screen with no volume.....reports that Chinese satellites have located it in the sea, about where it was supposed to be

They've found something but it's not been confirmed what it is yet. Sorry just had a Rolf Harris moment.
