Short term accommodation in Manchester, the website says they will even arrange transfers from the airport to their properties:

http://www.thepropertyoctopus.co.uk/index.html

I have not used this service nor do I know more than what it says on the website but it seems pretty good value for money in the short term, especially for those who have no family to go back to.

....and can I add my pennyworth...

www.gocompare.com

for competitive insurance, money, utilities, travel, motoring and business.

Site recommended on here a few weeks back for car insurance. Poster had insured his car for a good rate with Tesco and had his clean driving record (Canada or Oz - don't remember) recognised.

For those looking for rooms to rent rather than houses I found this site really great:

http://www.spareroom.co.uk/

I posted a "room wanted" ad explaining that I was out of the UK and returning etc. and found a room within a few weeks of the posting.

Hugs,
Welshie
