SHOPPING TIP

A little tip for those looking for furniture, check out the eBay shops as I have just found out this week that some sell ex catalogue goods.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/

For instance I have seen a sofa that I love for 405 inc delivery, this is Argos stock from the last catalogue and was retailing for 800!!

Also I had ordered a bed online and they have a chest of drawers and a bedside cabinet I liked, I asked if they had a clearer picture and was told to go to the Tesco catalogue online (current!!). I did and the drawers were selling for 130 I just ordered them from the eBay shop for 75.00 and the bedside cabinets at Tesco are 70 and mine are 40.00 each. I wasn't going to order them as they come in flatpacks and need power tools for assembly so when I told the eBay shop I couldn't order them because of this, they have said for 10 they will assemble them all for me!!!

I am a very happy shopper.

I found this site via the "London Evening Standard" online newspaper:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/

(you can subscribe to get e-mails with the latest 'hot' deals). I'm amazed at some of the low prices people are finding for items in the shops!

One Way Travel Insurance!

For re-pats (expats who are repatriating to the UK) one can get one way travel insurance with the Aussie travel insurers, 'World Nomads'. It doesn't matter if travel doesn't originate in Australia, they give cover from travellers from 140 countries. However, for UK returnees with the intention to settle there, one must be willing to be medi-vacced to the UK if necessary *and* everyone travelling must be eligible for NHS cover (even long-term if necessary) upon arrival in the UK - not a problem for British expats. A UK address must also be provided (it seems that a close relative's address is ok):

One expat returning to the UK in August 2012 on the Cunard QM2 ship has taken out cover with 'World Nomads' for a very reasonable price - see details below:

Without checking each of the websites previously mentioned in this thread, what other information might users wish to be traced and placed here?

Do you need to 'top up' your National Insurance contributions because you have been living overseas (towards your UK State Pension)?

Here is how to find out:
